This is usually the result of continued bleeding under the "clot". Call your dentist immediately. In the interim control bleeding with pressure. Place gauze packing over the area and compress tightly. Change every 20 minutes. Repeat up to an hour. If bleeding continues places a moist tea bag over the area with pressure. Avoid anything that may cause a vacuum in your mouth; sucking, spitting, or smoking
