4. CHEWING or PRESSURE
SENSITIVITY
- An acute sharp pain of short duration while eating is indicative of a incomplete
vertical fracture The tooth should be evaluated for a crown immediately before the
fracture either reaches the pulp or a piece of the tooth breaks off.
- Dull persistent pain from chewing/pressure can be due to: an abscessed tooth, presence
of periodontal (gum) disease, lost or a defective filling that allows food to collect
between it
