Sometimes referred to as " herpetic stomatitis" which is causes by the herpes virus. Wide spread diffuse vesicles give way to pin point ulcers that may enlarge to from larger ulcers. Fever may also be present. Treatment is with one of the prescription anti-viral drugs (Valacyclovir. Penciclovir, or acyclovir). Pain control, use ibuprophen, and topical application of 20% benzocaine. A generalized burning mouth may be also caused from diabetes, dry-mouth, or vitamin deficiency.
