14. NUMBNESS IN THE FACE
Due to a variety of reasons but most likely:
- Due to a recent dental injection. Usually very transient, caused by a prolonged
polarization of the nerve, or inflammation around the nerve sheath membrane.
- Due to recent dental surgery. Usually due to a traumatized nerve and maybe transient. If
however the nerve was severed it may be permanent. If the nerve was severed during the
procedure attempts to repair should be initiated immediately.
- May be due to impingement of the dental nerve from a benign or malignant growth,
viruses, or neurological disease. See you physician or dentist.
