| It is well established that
ingestion of fluoridated drinking water (1 ppm Fl) during the period of tooth development
results in a significant decrease in the amount of dental decay. Taken as a child,
fluoride works systemically by becoming a permanent part of the developing tooth enamel
rendering the tooth less resistant to decay for life!! Woodland currently does not have a fluoridated water supply. Naturally occurring fluoride in Woodlands are extremely low so our children do not receive any of the benefits of fluoride protection. To offer our children maximum protection against dental decay it is wise to supplement their diet with fluoride until age 12. Since Woodland draws its water supply from several wells, it is first important
to contact the city engineer and ask what the current fluoride level is in the water that
supplies your house hold. Then use the chart below to supplement your childs
fluoride with a prescription from your dentist or physician. |
