Fungal infections

First drug of choice for a localized oral fungal infection  If patient has a partial or full denture soak them overnight in an nystatin oral suspension
Nystatin Tablets
Disp    
30 tabs
Sig    
Dissolve one tablet in mouth until gone three times a day until out.
Nystatin Oral Suspension (100,000 units/ml, vehicle contains 50% sucrose )

Disp     120 ml
Sig    
Soak appliances overnight in oral suspension , every night for 10 days

First drug of choice for systemic ( oral tablets or capsules) treatment of oral fungal infection First drug of choice for fungal infection of the corners of the mouth


Diflucan 

Disp    
100 mgs
Sig     15 tablets

Take two tablets the first day and then one tablet a day until resolved


Mycolog Cream

Disp     
Sig    
15 gm tube

Apply to corners of mouth 4 times a day
